Good Will Foundation (XZ.A.R.,P.R.C.) Provides Relief Materials to Flood Victims in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: The Good Will Foundation (GWF), an NGO active in XZ.A.R., China, has provided relief materials to flood victims in Nepal.

In a press release issued today, GWF announced that it had extended assistance to the residents affected by the recent flooding of the Bagmati River. The foundation distributed these relief materials with the support of the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD). As part of the relief campaign titled “Jointly Facing Challenges, Overcoming Hardships Together,” CFRD staff distributed relief packages to victims households in Teku, Kathmandu, on Friday.

The relief packages included essential daily items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, towels, and soap; water storage containers like buckets and jars; sanitary pads for women; emergency food supplies including rice, flour, edible oil, and compressed biscuits; and items for warmth and mosquito protection such as blankets, bedding, pillows, and mosquito nets.

The press release further stated, “The floods and landslides following continuous rainfall on September 26th and 27th in Kathmandu Valley and other parts of Nepal have caused heavy loss of life and property. More than 200 people have lost their lives, dozens remain missing, and hundreds have been injured. In response to this disaster, we have launched the ‘Nepal Catastrophic Flood Relief Operation’ in collaboration with the CFRD.”

CFRD staff in Nepal had to cut short their vacations to participate in the relief efforts. Currently, CFRD staff in Nepal are on a one-week holiday in celebration of China’s National Day. This is the second collaboration between GWF and CFRD in Nepal.

Previously, in 2020, GWF provided 550,000 protective masks and 75 oxygen generators to Nepal during the COVID-19 pandemic under the “You’re Not Alone: Pandemic Control” project.

The Good Will Foundation has long been involved in public welfare projects in Nepal, focusing on promoting employment and improving the quality of life for unemployed youth through skills training. The foundation has expressed its commitment to continuing efforts to improve the livelihoods of the Nepali people through future skills training projects.
