Rupandehi, Nepal, September 27, 2023 – In a significant milestone for education in Nepal, Namaste Academy, the first Cambridge school curriculum institution outside the Kathmandu Valley, has successfully undergone a thorough inspection by David Herburt Payne, an Offsted education Inspector from the United Kingdom. Offsted, renowned worldwide for its independent school regulatory role, is represented by Mr. Payne, who was appointed by the British Education Group (BEG), an organization that operates an international chain of schools and colleges in London, Dubai, and Nepal. The parent organization of BEG is The British College in Kathmandu.
Over the course of two days, from September 25th to 26th, 2023, David Payne meticulously inspected every aspect of Namaste Academy, providing crucial recommendations to elevate the institution to international standards, according to Jigme Sherpa, the School Principal. Notably, Mr. Payne also appreciated the efforts made by the school to organize Jigme Sherpa’s one week visiting the prestigious Cambridge University in London, in line with the university’s directives to strengthen the Cambridge School pathway program at Namaste Academy.
David Payne, the School Inspector, boasts an impressive educational background that truely represents his strong academic and inspection backgrounds that includes BA (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Sussex, England.,PGCE in Education from the University of Sussex, England.and NPQH (National Headship Qualification) from the University of Greenwich, London, England.
He is considered an expert in school inspection for Offsted, the esteemed school regulatory body in the UK. Presently, Mr. Payne serves as an ITT Lecturer, Mentor, and Support Tutor for the University of London, South Bank, UK.
Arun Kumar Kandel, the Head of Schools at The British College in Kathmandu, stated that David Payne also assessed Motherland School in Chitwan, a not-for-profit organization affiliated with The British College. He is scheduled to inspect another school under The British College, BMC, an A-level college situated in Kathmandu’s Chakupat area.
Namaste Academy is dedicated to providing international exposure to its students and teachers by establishing connections with international organizations. Rajendra Kuwar, the founder Principal of Namaste Academy, revealed that in late August 2023, nine students from the academy visited Beston International School in China, continuing a tradition of international exposure that began with visits to Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
David Payne, the Offsted Inspector, commended the collaborative efforts of students, teachers, and school management. He expressed optimism that by adhering to British education standards, Namaste Academy would gradually gain popularity among students and parents. Mr. Payne stressed the importance of training students with native English tutors to develop authentic English speaking skills and accents.
